'McDance' Readies for Busy St. Patrick's Day Schedule

Dance group from Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance in Algonquin has multitude of appearances planned this St. Patrick's Day week.

For Rebecca McCarthy and her students, St. Patrick's Day keeps them on their toes — literally.

Rebecca McCarthy's School of Dance, at 3951 W. Algonquin Road in Algonquin, teaches various forms of dance, including ballet, tap, jazz, and modern to name a few. But this time of the year, it's Irish step dance that has the dance company on the go.

This week a group of McCarthy's Irish step dance students, known as "McDance," will be performing throughout Chicagoland. As yee can imagine, the step dancers are highly sought after for the St. Patrick's Day holiday.

McDance's St. Patrick's Day gigs this week include performances at The Gladdagh Restaurant in Geneva, the Raue Center for the Arts on Saturday night, a St. Pat's celebration at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Crystal Lake, parades and other venues.

On Saturday, March 16 alone, McDance has eight bookings throughout the Chicagoland area. The performers travel from appearance to appearance because they love it, McCarthy said.
