Lincoln Prairie Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Food Drive
The school will be collecting food items for the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry through Friday.
Students at are working to collect food as part of a drive to help support the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry this week.
The food drive is the first of events at Lincoln Prairie, 500 Harvest Gate, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the school's opening, according to a Community Unit School District 300 press release.
Twenty-three classrooms at Lincoln Prairie are working to collect 230 pounds of food for the food pantry — 10 pounds per classroom, according to the news release. Items can be dropped off at Lincoln Prairie through Friday.

A display has been created in the schools' front hall. As each class meets its goal of 10 pounds of food, a sticker is added to show this achievement, according to the news release.
Following Feb. 10, parent volunteers and students will prepare the food for delivery to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Food Pantry.

Special activities will be held at Lincoln Prairie each month this year to celebrate the opening of the school 10 years ago. Other than the food drive, there will books purchased for the media center and plantings and beautification of the school grounds.
A community celebration will be held at the school the evening of May 10.
