Jacobs' Students, Staff Raise Funds for Hurricane Sandy Relief

In total, $720 was raised for the American Red Cross.

Fund-raising efforts at Jacobs High School earlier this month brought in $720 for Hurricane Sandy relief.

On Monday, Jacobs Principal Ami Engel, Student Council Sponsors Morgan Loete and Sarah Benson, and student council representatives presented the donations to representatives from the American Red Cross.

The Hurricane Sandy Relief Fundraiser was held from Nov. 5 through Nov. 9 at Jacobs High School. During that time, students could donate spare change during lunches and competitions were held between grade levels as a way to encourage donations, according to a press release.

Posters, which measured how many money was raised by each class, were posted in the commons. The winning class got to choose a teacher to wear the Jacobs' Eagle costume for a day.

The student council matched the amount of money raised by students.
