District 300 School Board Approves $20M Tax Levy Increase

The District 300 Board of Education approved the tax levy increase on Monday.

Most property owners in District 300 can expect to pay more in taxes after the District 300 board of education approved a $20 million increase to its property tax levy during Monday's meeting, according to the Northwest Herald.

The levy increase "is tied to declining state funding, increasing government mandates and rising student enrollment," according to the article. Projections show the increase will mean the owner of a $200,000 home will pay the schools district $144 in property taxes in 2013, according to the NW Herald.
