District 300 Aims to Keep Student Fees Flat

Fees within the district are above average compared to neighboring school districts, according to local media reports.

Some good news for District 300 parents — the district is proposing to keep student fees flat next year, according to a Northwest Herald article. 

The District 300 School Board is expected to vote on the 2013-14 fee schedule at a Jan. 28 board meeting, according to the Daily Herald. 

Fees within District 300 are above average compared to neighboring school districts, including Huntley District 158, according to the NW Herald article. The Daily Herald reports kindergarten rates in D300 are higher than schools in Barrington, Woodstock and Elgin's District 46.

Kindergarten registration within District 300 is $100. Full-day kindergarten tuition currently costs $250 per month, according to the District 300 website. 

The current rates for annual preschool registration (not including tuition) is $90 while tuition costs can range from $135 to $250 per month, depending on the length of the program selected.

Registration rates for elementary school up to high school range from $115 to $135 annually, according to the fee schedule on the D300 website. 

Additional fees for high school students can include a parking permit, $125; athletic participation per sport, $150; driver's education, $300; and physical education shirts, short and locks can come to $21. 

A band/orchestra fee and the middle school level is $115 while athletic participation per sport is $75. The District 300 website has a full fee schedule.
