Amie, can you please enlighten us and tell us exactly what D300's standards are for homelessness? Dennis, you aren't being a wet blanket. That is a valid question/concern.
Amie, can you also look into what D300 does for 'homeless' kids who want to go to the prom? do they help them out with any assistance? after all, EVERYBODY is ENTITLED to go to the prom, right?

Hi Dennis! The definition for homeless children is actually quite broad in Illinois: According to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, “homeless” includes children living with relatives or friends, called “couch families,” due to economic hardship. It encompasses children living in motels, hotels, trailer parks and campgrounds due to lack of alternative accommodations. It can also include families living in cars, public spaces, abandoned buildings or other such settings.

We did a story on "homeless children" in District 300 last year. You can find it here: http://algonquin.patch.com/articles/schools-striving-to-keep-homeless-children-in-classrooms. It is definitely something we can re-visit and look at again and could be a good story in the coming months. Thanks!

I am very disappointed. I bought a groupon recently and I redeemed it at the store, but they gaveRead More me a gift card for the remaining balance. What do I do with this gift card now?
