Back-to-School: Important Dates for LITH Kids

Patch provides information on upcoming open houses, schedule pickup dates and start dates for parents and their children who are heading to school.

District 47

The first day of school for all students (except kindergarten students) attending District 47 schools is Aug. 30 and will be a half day. The first day for kindergarten students is Aug. 31.

Other important dates for District 47 schools attended by Lake in the Hills students include: 

  • Indian Prairie Elementary: Parent night is from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. Sept. 8. Class lists will be posted on the cafeteria doors after 3:30 p.m. Aug. 17. Parents and students can meet their teacher from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Aug. 29 and receive information on emergency cards, etc. 
  • Woods Creek Elementary: School supply pack pickup is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 25. Student orientation is from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Aug. 29. 
  • Glacier Ridge Elementary: Kindergarten orientation is on Aug. 30. New family orientation will be at 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. Aug. 24. Parent night will be Sept. 8. 
  • Richard F. Bernotas Middle School: Orientation for incoming sixth-graders and their parents will be at 6 p.m. Aug 18 for students with last names beginning with A through L. 
  • Lundahl Middle School: Sixth grade orientation will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18 for students whose last name begins with A-L and at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23 for students whose last name begins with M-Z.
District 155

The first day of school for all District 155 students is Aug. 25. In total, 450 Lake in the Hills teens attend Crystal Lake South High School, and 50 attend Crystal Lake Central High School. Crystal Lake South will host its parents' night/open house Sept. 14.

District 158

The first day of school for grades 1 through 12 will be on Aug. 24. Kindergarten students start school Aug. 25. 

  • Chesak Elementary School: first and second grades start Aug. 24 and kindergarten students start Aug. 25. An open house for first and second grades will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and the kindergarten open house will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23. 
  • Hannah Martin Elementary School: An open house will be held Aug.22. 
  • Conley Elementary School: An open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22.
  • Mackeben Elementary: An open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22. Curriculum night will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8.
  • Heineman School: Students schedules will be available on PowerSchool on Aug. 22. A student walk through will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18 and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 19. A sixth-grade open house will be at 6 and 7 p.m. Aug. 18. Seventh- and eighth-grade students’ open house will be at 6 and 7 p.m. Aug. 25. 
  • Marlowe Middle SchoolSchedule pickup will be from 10 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18 and from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 19. Schedules will be available online Aug. 22. An open house for sixth-graders will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 7 for seventh and eighth grades. 
  • Huntley High SchoolMaterial pickup:  from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Open house: Aug. 31
District 300
  • H.D. Jacobs High School: The first day of classes is Aug. 15. Students can meet with counselors on a first-come, first-served basis to ask questions about their schedules: from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9. In total, 520 Lake in the Hills teens attend Jacobs. 
  • Lake in the Hills Elementary School: First day of school for kindergarten through fifth-graders will be Aug. 15. The first day for pre-school students will be Aug. 17. About 458 Lake in the Hills children attend Lake in the Hills Elementary. 
  • Westfield Community School: Classes begin Aug. 15. Kindergarten through fifth-grade supply drop-off is Aug. 11. Sixth-grade parent night will be Aug. 23, seventh-grade parent night will be Aug. 24 and eighth-grade parent night will be Aug. 25. About 361 Lake in the Hills children attend Westfield Community School.
