Area Students Nominated for Jurs/Raider Way Award

Students nominated exhibit the qualities of the Red Raider Way: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Involved, according to a District 158 press release.

Each month faculty members at Huntley High School nominate students to be the recipient of the Jurs/Raider Way Outstanding Student of the Month Award.

Students nominated exhibit the qualities of the Red Raider Way: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Involved, according to a District 158 press release.  

This month, the award recipients were Lucas Niedbalec of Algonquin and Abigail Nordeen of Huntly. HHS senior Lucas Niedbalec, nominated by Ms. Laura Martens, is described as a positive person both in the classroom and in the school in general.

Martens has been the goalie for the Lacrosse Club at Huntley for the past four years, an assistant coach for his brother’s basketball team last year and has helped out for many events at Huntley High School.

Martens has also given his time as part of the security team at his church and has also been a teacher's assistant. Martens is genuinely concerned for others and always strives to do his very best.

Abigail Nordeen is described as a student with an amazing work ethic and attention to detail. She is a soccer player and a member of a highly competitive travel team that requires a great deal of time and commitment.

Nordeen is described as having a generous heart. She volunteers for Misericordia and Feed the Starving Children organizations.

She actively collects food for food drives and this past Christmas had “adopted” a family through her soccer organization. Nordeen is a sophomore and was nominated by Mrs. Laura Jenkins.
