Area College Students Recognized for Academic Achievements

Area college students have been recognized for the following academic achievements over the fall 2011 semester: 

Miami University

Bo Chen of Algonquin (McHenry County, IL) was named to the Miami University dean's list.

Miami University students who achieved a 3.5 or better grade point average for first semester 2011-2012 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.

Augustana College Four Choirs Concert

Cantilena Augustana, Wennerberg Men's Chorus, Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble and the Ascension Singers were the four choirs that came together for one concert on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Augustana College.

The Four Choirs Concert was an opportunity for students to share what they had been studying and preparing throughout the term with their families and the community.

Marshall Forte, a First Year student from Lake in the Hills, Ill., majoring in Undecided participated in the concert.

Luther College

Kevin Kraus, Luther College vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, has announced that Collin Richman Luther College freshman of Algonquin, Ill. was named to the 2011 fall semester Dean's List.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale and must complete at least 12 credit hours with 10 hours of conventional grades (A, B, C, D).

Olivet Nazarene University

Olivet Nazarene University recently released the dean's list for the fall 2011 semester. To qualify for inclusion on the dean's list, a student must have been enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 grading scale. Area residents named to the dean's list are:

Area college students have been recognized for the following academic achievements over the fall 2011 semester:  

Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa

The following local students have been named to the President's List at Drake University. This academic honor is achieved by earning a grade point average of 4.0 during the Fall 2011 semester at Drake.

William Woods University, Fulton, Miss.

Danielle Moritz of Algonquin, Ill., has been named to the Dean's List at William Woods University for academic accomplishments during the 2011 fall term.

To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be full-time and have achieved a minimum 3.6 semester and cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Benedictine University, Lisle, Ill.

Syed Arsalan Ahmed of Lake in the Hills was among 391 students named to the Dean's Recognition List at Benedictine University for the Fall 2011 semester.

The Dean's Recognition List recognizes part-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or above.

Among the students named to the Dean's List at Benedictine University for the Fall 2011 semester are:

  • Nicole Catherine Millard of Algonquin
  • Amanda Carol Grady of Lake in the Hills

University of Hartford, West Hartford, Conn. 

The University of Hartford is pleased to announce the following local students have been named to the Dean's List for Fall 2011.

 Coastal Carolina University, Conway, SC

The following student was had been named to the Fall 2011 Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average

  • Erica Disarno, Lake in the Hill

Connecticut College, New London, Conn.

Molly Pachay, a member of the class of 2015 at Connecticut College and a resident of Lake In The Hills, has been named to the Dean's High Honors list for the 2011 fall semester.

At Connecticut College, Dean's Honors is a recognition for students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.66, and Dean's High Honors is a recognition for students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.78. 

Savannah College of Art and Design

Allison Grunthaner of Algonquin, Illinois, has been named to the Dean's List at the Savannah College of Art and Design for fall quarter 2011. Full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the quarter receive recognition on the Dean's List.
