D300 ACT Scores Improve — One School Below State Average

The district average composite score was 20.8 in 2011, up 0.4 from last year.

While all three District 300 high schools saw improvements in composite ACT scores this year, one still lags behind the state average score of 20.9.

Dundee-Crown students earned a composite score of 19.6 in 2011, up 0.4 from 2010, but still 1.3 points behind the state average and 1.6 points behind the national average.

students earned the highest scores in the district, and with a composite score of 22.1, exceeded both the state and national averages. Hampshire High School students experienced the largest growth from 2010, with scores improving 0.6 points, for a composite score of 21.0 this year.

Nearly 1,200 high school seniors in District 300 took the ACT college-entrance exam this past spring, which measures students in the areas of English, mathematics, reading and science. The state requires that all high school students take the exam, whether or not they intend to pursue an advanced degree.

The results compare one group of students to another group of students. It does not reflect year-to-year growth of the same group.
