9/11 Lessons: What Area Schools Are Doing to Commemorate, Teach

District 300 provides examples of what its schools are doing to remember and teach students about 9/11.

Today at , teachers will recognize the 10th anniversary of 9/11 by sharing a PowerPoint that highlights various 9/11 memorials. 

Westfield's Principal Bill Doran will also read a 9/11 reflection over the school's PA system and play "God Bless America," according to a District 300 press release. 

In one fourth grade classroom at , teacher Mary Kartheiser will be talking about the heroism of the firefighters. Students will then make a chain-link.

Each student will get a red, white and blue link and will write on the links: 1) how they can help others in need, 2) how someone has helped them and 3) how they will remember those affected by 9/11.
