LITH Safety Camp Welcome in Today's Economic Times

Safety Camp

Money is tight.

We're sending one kid off to college in the fall, one to high school, and I stay home to homeschool our third grade twins.  Between trying to make ends meet and trying to expose our kids to the lessons, sports, teams, etc., summer is usually even tighter.

However, for a second year in a row, our family has been blessed by the Village of Lake in the Hills'  Safety Camp, run by the LITH police department and volunteers.  Because this free program exists during a time where "nothing's free", the girls are already making new friends, seeing familiar faces, and learning some very valuable tips and tools about our community, our local service people, and of course, how to stay safe.

Today was their first day, and they can't stop talking about it.  They really feel a part of this, thanks to the awesome job they do to make our kids feel welcome every day they attend.

At a time when many families are facing unemployment, foreclosure, and bankruptcy, it's such a blessing to know that a dynamic program like this continues to exist.  Kudos to everyone involved in making sure this is a priority for our village, and who serve the children and these families in such a big way.
