Dear Mom: This Post is For You

A Mother's Day Tribute.

This Mother's Day Message is for women everywhere.

This is for the mom who stayed up all night watching over a sick child...forgetting about her own sleep and caring only about when her child will be well.

This is for the mom who got up early to squeeze in some time for herself at the gym, around the block, at the coffee shop, or in her favorite chair with her favorite morning drink.

And here's to the mom who wiped away dirt, a bloody nose, a scraped knee, or tears from a broken heart.

For the mom who sometimes questions if she's doing the right things and if her kids will turn out to be loving and kind and productive.

To the mother who's helping to plan a wedding, or a baby shower, or a graduation, or birthday party...and to the one who's planning to have a party "just because".

And for the mother who was never taught how to be the gentle, patient, loving mother she has always dreamed of being; for the mother who is still in passionate pursuit of being the kind of mother she wished she'd had.

For the mother-to-be, full of life, full of emotion, full of worry, happiness, and full of joy.

And this is for the mother who lost a child when that's just not fair, and mourns them every day, especially today.

To the mother who understands that motherhood is a calling, and a blessing, and an honor, and a privilege...not a burden.

For the "just like a mom" mother who has been a mentor, or a leader, or a supporter, or a believer in someone else's child when they needed it most.

For the mom who stays at home. And for the mom who works outside the home. For the mom who's just starting out. And for the mom who's enjoying her grandchildren. For the mother who just found out she's terminally ill. And for the mother who's just come out of remission.

For the mom who loves her kids so fiercely she's uncertain what she will do with her life when they're grown. To the mom who's never been able to connect with her kids like she wants to. And to the mom who's still waiting for the good news that she's going to become a mom for the first time.

For the mother who finds herself livng a life she hadn't planned, wanted, or expected. And for the mother who's starting new. For the mother we lost too soon. This Mother's Day is for you.

Because no matter your path, you are a Mom and you are so very special to this world, to this community, and most importantly, to your family; to your children.

Whether you spend the day in the mall, at the spa, inside of a good book, out for lunch, all alone, or surrounded by your family, remember that you were created for greatness.  Whatever the world may value, the true value of a mother is absolutely priceless.  And if you want proof, you'll see it in your generations to come.

So this Mother's Day, relax, sit back, and cherish this moment in time.  The dishes can wait, order out for dinner, and someone else can help with homework...This Mother's Day reflect on the precious gift of motherhood and have a fabulous day!

I love you, mom!
