Village Board OKs Storm Sewer Inspection Camera

The Village Board on Thursday night approved the purchase of a $42,500 inspection camera and also approved funding for several other Public Works projects.

The on Oct. 13 approved several expenditures for public works projects, including the purchase of a $42,500 portable storm-sewer inspection camera.

The village will buy the camera system from EJ Equipment of Manteno, Ill.

Lake in the Hills typically spends $10,000 annually on contractors to perform storm sewer inspections, according to the public works department. The department had budgeted $15,000 to buy a camera this year, but that amount could not buy a camera that would properly service the larger sewer pipes.

Public Works Director Fred Mullard requested the board approve purchasing the camera system. Purchasing the camera and inspecting the storm sewers in-house should bring future annual savings to the village, according to the Public Works Department.
