Village Board: No Increase in Garbage, Recycling Costs

Village Board votes Thursday to stick with Allied Waste.

Village trustees last Thursday voted unanimously to keep the cost of refuse and recyclable hauling steady under a new contract with Allied Waste.

Trustees voted 5-0 to stay with Allied at the same cost of $15.54 per month for residents, said Village Administrator Gerald Sagona.

Officials had considered adding a large refuse hauler and larger recyclable tote for each household at an increased cost, but agreed to keep refuse bills stagnant for residents. The village received other bids for the waste contract but they were all at an increased cost.

The new contract, which will begin in June, allows for the same 14-gallon recycle bin for each household and provides the same quarterly billing and pick-up dates.

Also on Thursday, trustees voted 5-0 to support a new Centegra Hospital in Huntley. For more information on the latest developments on this proposed hospital, visit this
