Trustees to Vote on Raises for Police Staff

Community service officers and record clerks will get .5 percent raises.

Village trustees Thursday night are expected to approve nominal raises for civilian employees.

The new contracts would affect nine dispatchers, one uniformed community service officer and three record clerks, according to a police official.

Dispatchers will be getting the biggest raises — 1.5 percent — because their salaries were smaller compared to neighboring departments, police officials say.

Community service officers and records clerks are expected to get half-percent raises.

A community service officer’s salary range is $36,122 to $55,685. Salaries will increase to $36,303 to $55,963.

The salary range for record clerks is $36,122 to $54,932. Under the new contract, the range would be $36,303 to $55,207.

James Wales, the village’s director of police and public safety, said the main thrust of the contract negotiations was wages.

“Salary negotiations with the civilians went very smooth with both sides being realistic in their expectations in this trying economic time,” Wales said.
