State Elections Board Rules To Keep Dee Beaubien On November Ballot

Opponent David McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, filed the objection against Beaubien.

Dee Beaubien, the Independent candidate for the 52nd House District race, will appear on the ballot for the upcoming election following a ruling Monday by the Illinois State Board of Elections.

The State Board of Elections voted unanimously in favor of keeping Beaubien on the ballot.

Opponent David McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, filed the objection with the state board of elections, arguing Beaubien should not appear on the ballot as an independent because she signed petitions for Republican candidates during the March primary, according to the Northwest Herald.

Beaubien in a statement Monday referred to McSweeney's objection as a "political game" and said she hoped they would be able to move forward to discuss the issues as the November election neared.

Beaubien is running as an Independent because she "wants to work on both sides of the political aisle to bring both Republicans and Democrats together to solve the problems facing the state," according to her statement Monday.
