South Elgin resident Laura Wallet has announced that she will seek the Republican nomination for Kane County auditor in 2012.

She is the first candidate to file for the position, after Bill Keck, the county’s current auditor, announced he would not seek a sixth term, according to an article in the Kane County Chronicle.

“Many challenges lie ahead and county government needs to tighten its belt,” Wallet said in a statement announcing her candidacy. “We need to elect good leaders who will make smart choices for our communities.”
