The break occurred at the 1300 block of Hillside View.

A ruptured water main caused $24,000 worth of damage in Algonquin late last week.

Friday, April 15 a broken main damaged 220 feet of road and sent water streaming down Algonquin's Hillside View neighborhood.

The break occured on the 1300 block of Hillside View. Four houses were without water for three hours while crews were working to repair the damage, said Gary Hallaert, underground utilities supervisor for the village.

Hallaert said since the water main was not metered, the village was unable to quantify exactly how much water leaked out. He said village records indicate the main was installed in 1927, making it 84 years old.
