Republicans took many of the seats up for election in local races Tuesday night.

• Katherine C. Schultz-Republican, 55,735 votes, 69.93 percent
• Mark L. Freund-Democratic, 23,969 votes, 30.07 percent

• William W. "Bill" LeFew-Republican, 67,521, 100 percent

McHenry County Sheriff, 212 of 212 precincts reporting in McHenry County:

• Keith Nygren- Republican, 46,296 votes, 57.75 percent
• Mike Mahon-Democratic, 29,698 votes, 37.05 percent
• Gus Philpott- Green, 4,166 votes, 5.2 percent

McHenry County Regional Superintendent of Schools, 188 of 188 precincts reporting in McHenry County:

• Joseph R. "Joe" Williams- Republican, 67,504 votes, 100 percent
