Nearby Village Takes Steps to Regulate Medical Marijuana

The restrictions would not take place until the medical marijuana law was approved in Illinois, according the Daily Herald.

Carpentersville is readying itself for medical marijuana to become legal in Illinois by discussing restrictions that would regulate where the drug could be grown and sold in the village.

While Gov. Pat Quinn has yet to sign a law allowing medical marijuana in the state, village trustees looked at restrictions Tuesday that would include limiting the growth and sale of marijuana to indoor industrial area and requiring suppliers to apply for a special use permit, according to the Daily Herald.

The village board is expected to vote on the resolution during the June 18 meeting, according to the article.
