Median Work Expected to Close Lanes Along Algonquin This Week

Village of Lake in the Hills employees will be installing plants to improve the appearance of medians along Algonquin Road between Randall Road and Harvest Gate.

Motorists should expect some lane closures on Algonquin Road between Randall Road and Harvest Gate next week as the village of Lake in the Hills works to plant shrubs and trees along the median in that area. 

Village workers area expected to be out between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday working in that area, according to the village of Lake in the Hills news release. Drivers should anticipate left lane closures and are urged to drive with extra caution.

The median work is part of a joint effort by the villages of Algonquin and Lake in the Hills and the McHenry County Division of Transportation.

The purpose is to improve the appearance of medians along Algonquin Road, which currently only contains turf grass, according to the press release.

The Algonquin Public Works staff was responsible for the layout of the median and for selecting plants that would survive in the area. The plants are native to Illinois, are salt and drought tolerant, colorful and low maintenance.

The village of LITH is responsible for installing the plants and both villages will be responsible for maintaining the area.
