Creating rental facilities for wedding and other large events is being explored as an option for the Fox Bluff Conservation area.
The McHenry County Conserviation District is looking into whether three former Camp Algonquin buildings could be renovated to host a range of different-sized events on the site, according to the Northwest Herald.
The Fox Bluff Conservation area and former Camp Algonquin site makes up 279 acres of land west of Cold Springs Road, which stretches from Cary-Algonquin Road to the Fox River.
The southern portion of that land makes up the Fox Bluff Conservation area, which is currently open to the public with access and parking off of Cold Springs Road. The Camp Algonquin site has been closed to the public for several months.
Amy Peters, planning and development manager for the McHenry County Conservation District, told Patch in August the MCCD hopes to connect the current Fox Bluff Conservation area to the former Camp Algonquin site with a system of trails.
The McHenry County Conservation District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the Brookdale administrative offices, 18410 Route 14 in Woodstock, where a preliminary draft plan is expected to be presented.
