MCCD Looks at Rental Facilities for Fox Bluff, Camp Algonquin Area

The three different buildings would offer a smaller venue that would seat from 50 to 70 people to a larger venue that would seat 225 to 270 people, according to the Northwest Herald.

Creating rental facilities for wedding and other large events is being explored as an option for the Fox Bluff Conservation area.

The McHenry County Conserviation District is looking into whether three former Camp Algonquin buildings could be renovated to host a range of different-sized events on the site, according to the Northwest Herald.

The Fox Bluff Conservation area and former Camp Algonquin site makes up 279 acres of land west of Cold Springs Road, which stretches from Cary-Algonquin Road to the Fox River.

The southern portion of that land makes up the Fox Bluff Conservation area, which is currently open to the public with access and parking off of Cold Springs Road. The Camp Algonquin site has been closed to the public for several months.

Amy Peters, planning and development manager for the McHenry County Conservation District, told Patch in August the MCCD hopes to connect the current Fox Bluff Conservation area to the former Camp Algonquin site with a system of trails.
