LITH: Two Candidates Seek President Post, Four Running for Trustee

The race to serve on the Lake in the Hills Village Board is comprised mostly of incumbents and two newcomers.

The village president seat and three trustee positions will be decided in the Consolidated Election on April 9.

With current trustee Paul Mulcahy is seeking the top post.

Bill Dustin, currently serving on the Lake in the Hills Planning and Zoning Commission, also is running for village president, according to petition packets filed with the village.

Mulcahy is midway through his village trustee term so he will remain on the village board even if he fails to win the presidential post.

Incumbent Village Clerk Denise Wasserman is running unchallenged to retain her position.

That leaves the race for village trustee.

The four-year terms held by trustees Stephen Harlfinger, Bob Huckins and Denise Barreto are due for re-election. All three incumbents are running in the April election, village officials said.

However, newcomer Ken Tentler is hoping to grab one of those three positions. Tentler has lived in Lake in the Hills since 2002, and jumped into the political ring hoping to make an impact.

"I want to make a difference," Tentler said. "... I honestly believe that this municipality is capable of cutting edge governing, business development and services with roots in conservatism."
