LITH Offers Free Electronics Recycling Services

LITH residents can now drop off unwanted electronics items at the village public works facility on Haligus Road

Don't know what to do with that big, broken TV?

No need to wait around for the next recycling drive.

Lake in the Hills residents now have the option - and convenience - of dropping unwanted electronic items at the Lake in the Hills Public Works building, 9010 Haligus Road.

The village announced it has partnered with Com2 Recycling Solutions to offer residents the free electronics recycling service since an Illinois law took effect last year prohibiting disposal of electronics into the regular trash.

The Public Works facility will take the electronics from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Electronic items that qualify for LITH recycling include:

  • Computers and monitors
  • Televisions
  • Printers, copiers, and fax machines
  • Phones and cell phones
  • Microwaves
  • Data storage media
  • Stereos, VCRs, DVD players, etc.

Com2 Recycling Solutions will properly dispose of the items or refurbish them, if possible. Residents with questions should call Public Works at 847-960-7500.
