Lake in the Hills Approves New Gas Station for Algonquin Road

The Grove Mart will be located on Algonquin Road across from Wentworth Drive in Lake in the Hills.

Lake in the Hills village officials approved plans for a new gasoline station, convenience store and car wash for the north side of Algonquin Road on the village's west side.

"The Grove Mart" will be constructed on the Algonquin Road across from Wentworth Drive on a vacant parcel of land located between Dave's Pumpkin Farm and CVS Pharmacy, just east of Lakewood Road.

The village board on Thursday approved Glogovsky Oil Co.'s request for a conditional use permit allowing the gasoline station and car wash.

The Grove Mart project, part of Par Development's Lake Pointe Center Phase II, includes a 4,000-square-foot convenience store, Shell gasoline station with 16 pumps and a 4,650-square-foot car wash, said Dan Olson, community development director for LITH.

As part of the annexation agreement, the developer will contribute either 5 percent of the cost or up to $50,000 towards construction of a new bike path connecting Algonquin and Miller roads.

The path would run along the east side of Lakewood Road.

Olson said village officials plan to apply for a grant to build the path. It will be some time before leaders learn if they receive the grant, he said.

In approving the development's plans, village leaders allowed for an 11-foot-tall Grove Mart sign, equal to the size of the CVS sign.
