Hobby Lobby Gets Final OK

Highlights from the Algonquin village board meeting on Tuesday, March 15.

  • The board gave its for Hobby Lobby development in the Esplanade. Village President John Schmitt said, "It's really good to see action in the Esplanade." The national retailer for arts and crafts will open its doors in Algonquin this fall.
  • The village was awarded a "grant" from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). Although there will be no money exchanged, the village will be able to use CMAP's workers free of charge to study Algonquin's downtown development once the is completed.
  • Public works got the permit to start work on the Cornish Park river wall replacement.
