Flooding continues to be an issue for Algonquin.

The Fox River — from the Wisconsin/Illinois state line to the Montgomery dam – remained closed to boating traffic on Tuesday.

Boating restrictions were placed on the Fox River on April 17 as swift currents, floating debris and submerged structures and piers created hazardous conditions on the fast-flowing river, according to an Illinois Department of Natural Resources memo.

Over the weekend, the Algonquin Police Department arrested three people who went on the river and gave a warning to a woman who let her 7-year-old child get too close to the "raging water," according to the Daily Herald.

The river was at 12.55 feet as of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, which is still well above its flood stage of 9.5 feet. Between .5 and .75 inches of additional rainfall was expected Tuesday and could slow the fall of the river, according to the NWS.
