Edgewood Drive Slated to Reopen Wednesday Evening

Edgewood Drive has been closed since April.

The reopening Wednesday of Edgewood Drive should come as good news for many area motorists.

The roadway has been closed to thru traffic since April and is slated to reopen on Wednesday evening just "in time for evening peak-hour traffic," according to a village of Algonquin press release.

The project includes full reconstruction of Edgewood Drive, which is a one-mile stretch of roadway that runs from east-to-west from Hanson Road to Main Street in Algonquin.

The storm sewer will also be replaced and a multi-use path constructed along Edgewood Drive. The project will also include curb and gutter installation and replacement of the bridge and culvert at Ratt Creek.

There still could be some intermittent lane closures as site restoration and other construction activities continue.  The project should be completed by early 2013.

The construction contract for Edgewood Drive was awarded to Copenhaver Construction of Gilberts for approximately $3 million.
