Early Voting Underway in Algonquin, Lake in the Hills

Several local seats are up for grabs during the spring election.

Early voting opened Monday in McHenry and Kane counties. 

Those hoping to cast their ballot early for several local races can do so through April 6. Election day is April 9. 

There are several contested races up for election in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills, including the Lake in the Hills village president seat, seats on the Algonquin and Lake in the Hill Village Board and seats on the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

A full sample ballot can be found on the McHenry County Clerk of Courts website. The Kane County Clerk of Courts website has a list of candidates up for election in Kane County. 

The McHenry County Clerk of Courts website also has a full list of locations for early voting in the county. Here are a couple local polling places that are currently open for early voting:

  • Huntley Park District, 12015 Mill St. in Huntley. Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for Friday, March 29, when hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The polling place will be open, Saturday, March 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Lake in the Hills Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate, executive conference room. Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for Friday, March 29, when hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The polling place will be open, Saturday, March 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Algonquin Township Offices, 3702 US Highway 14 in Crystal Lake, Community Room. Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The building will be closed on Friday, March 29. The township offices will be open, Saturday, March 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
  • City of Crystal Lake, 100 W. Municipal Complex in Crystal Lake, room P106. Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for Friday, March 29, when hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The polling place will be open, Saturday, March 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
  • Nunda Township Offices, 3510 Bay Road in Crystal Lake. Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Friday, March 29. And open Saturday, April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. 

The Kane County Clerk of Courts website has a full list of polling locations for early voting in the county. Here are a couple local Kane County polling places: 

  • Jewel, 1660 Larkin Avenue in Elgin, will serve as a polling place every Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the early voting period
  • Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road in St. Charles. Open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 
  • Sun City Huntley, 12880 Del Web Boulevard in Huntley. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 1 through April 4. 
  • Dundee Township, 557 Barrington Ave. in Dundee. Open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 25 through March 28 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 1 through April 4. 
  • City of Elgin, 150 Dexter Court in Elgin. Open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m March 25 through March 28 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1 through April 4. 
  • Elgin Township, 729 McClean Boulevard in Elgin. Open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m March 25 through March 28 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1 through April 4. 
  • West Dundee Village Hall, 102 S. Second St. in West Dundee. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1 through April 4.
