All Is Merry, Bright at LITH Festival of Trees

Dozens of familes stopped out to the annual Lake in the Hills Festival of Trees Friday night.

Once again, the Lake in the Hills Village Hall lawn is shining bright following the annual Festival of Trees lighting ceremony Friday.

Dozens of families stopped out to the annual event Friday. Shortly after 6 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus were escorted into the village hall parking lot on a fire truck.

As children cheered, Santa flipped the switch to light the several trees that line the sidewalk in front of village hall, 600 Harvest Gate.

The trees are decorated by local businesses and organizations. Starting today, residents can vote for their favorite tree by placing a non-perishable good underneath it. Voting will continue through Dec. 17 and the trees will remain up through Christmas Day.

All goods left beneath the trees will be donated to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry and the Grafton Township Food Pantry.
