Algonquin Village Hall Updating Phone System

Callers to Village Hall on Sept. 29 may experience intermittent outages.

On Sept. 29 the will be updating its phone network and callers after 4 p.m. may experience intermittent phone outages. The village is switching from an analog to digital system that will save the village $110,000 over the next 10 years, said Michael Kumbera, assistant to the village manager.

Emergency calls to 911 will not be affected and the Algonquin police nonemergency number — 1-847-658-4531 — will be operational throughout the upgrade.

The village expects the system to be fully operational by the opening of business on Sept. 29. The village of Algonquin website will be available during the upgrade, as well as its Twitter account and Facebook page.
