Algonquin Swears in New Village Manager

Tim Schloneger takes over from longtime Village Manager William Ganek.

Village Manager William Ganek had a different view of the Algonquin village board meeting Tuesday night _ from the second row in the audience.

It was the first time in over 20 years that Ganek didn’t occupy the seat to the village president’s right hand side.

Ganek ended his career with the village Tuesday and his successor, Tim Schloneger was sworn into the position.

“I’m excited to be here in Algonquin,” Schloneger said. “It’s a great community,” he said, adding Ganek and the board have a good reputation in the field of public administration.

The department heads are top notch, too, he said.

Schloneger worked as city administrator in Lockport, Il., and has 14 years experience.

Ganek will be on hand for a few weeks to assist in the transition, but he is retiring from the field. He spent 35 years in public administration. The village board and staff surprised him last week by renaming village hall to Ganek Municipal Center.
