Algonquin Restaurant Pleads Guilty to Liquor Violation

Wine & Roses agrees to plea agreement in December 2012 violation.

The owner of Wine & Roses pleaded guilty to a liquor violation, agreeing to pay $2,000 in fines and costs, during a Liquor Commission hearing this week.

Attorney Bill Hellyer entered the plea on behalf of owner John Wesolowski. The restaurant, at 1130 South Main St., was cited after Algonquin police sent in two underage agents to purchase two bottles of beer . Wine & Roses employees served the minors the alcohol, police said.

The December violation is the fourth for Wine & Roses. It received two violations in 2005 and one in 2006, village officials said.

Wesolowski appeared before the liquor commission in February but asked for a continuance to hire an attorney.

Hellyer reached an agreement with the village on the violation.

Weslowski is remorseful, Hellyer said. It has also been awhile since the other violations, he said.

In addition to the fee, all employees must have Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) training.
