Algonquin Receives Budget Award

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that the Village of Algonquin has received the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2013-14 fiscal year, according to the village of Algonquin news release. 

This is the tenth year in a row the Village has received this prestigious award, according to the press release. 

In order to receive the budget award, the Village had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.

“Village staff has once again done a tremendous job in not only putting together a balanced budget, but one that is easily understandable for our residents,” said Village President John Schmitt in the news release. 

Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four scoring categories, and the 14 mandatory criteriawithin those categories, to receive the award.  Approximately 1,289 entities nationwide received the award.
