Algonquin Library to Offer Extended Hours

The extended hours begin Tuesday, Sept. 4.

The Algonquin Area Public Library is extending its hours beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Main Library on Harnish Drive and the branch library on Eastgate Drive.

The decision to extend hours resulted from a community survey conducted last summer.

“The survey was to inquire what changes the library can make to better serve the community,” said Amy Vracar, marketing and public relations associate at the Algonquin Area Library, in an email. “Higher responses were received in patrons wanting the library to have longer hours.”

The branch location will see the largest extension of hours.

“The extended hours will give better ability for the library to be used, and more convenience for current library users and more of the community to come in,” Vracar said.

Continual observance of the extended hours will take place.

“We will continue assessing throughout the year the usage of the library during our extended hours, and adjusting our hours to best fit the needs of the community,” Vracar said.
