Warrant Issued on New DUI Charge for Man Convicted in Fatal Crash

Walter Depner was convicted in a fatal DUI crash that killed a Eva Burleson of Crystal Lake and her three children.

A former McHenry man convicted of killing a Crystal Lake woman and her three children in a drunken driving accident did not show up for a scheduled court appearance Wednesday on a new driving under the influence charge, according to the Northwest Herald.

During the Wednesday court hearing, a no-bond warrant was issued for Walter Depner, 61, of Mt. Prospect, who spent more than a decade in prison for the fatal DUI crash that killed Eva Burleson and her children, Daniel, 13; Tiffany, 11; and Dallis, 7, according to the Northwest Herald.

In February, Depner was arrested after he allegedly drove while intoxicated through his old neighborhood in McHenry and walked unannounced into a home in the 500 block of North Boulevard in unincorporated Lakemoor and sat down on the homeowner's couch, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release.

Police say Depner drove while under the influence of alcohol and clonazepam, according to the Northwest Herald.
