welcomes volunteers to lend a hand at this Halloween's safety town event.

The safe-trick-or-treat event will take place within an outdoor fenced-in area at the police department's safety education center, 1109 Crystal Lake Road, between 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday.

The area will be set up as a mini-village with miniature buildings. Police department employees as well as community members will be dressed up and will hand out candy to children at the event, said Mary Frake, chief of support services for the Lake in the Hills Police Department.
