UPDATE: Divers Search Fox River for Missing Woman

Wendy M. Kimura was last seen 14 years ago walking along Route 14 in Cary.

As an investigation continues into a Chicago woman who went missing in Cary nearly 14 years ago, divers searched the Fox River on Monday near the area where Wendy M. Kimura was last seen, according to the Northwest Herald. 

The dive teams were using sonar equipment and searching the Fox River near Route 14 and North River Road for Kimura who was 28 when she went missing on May 21, 1999, according to the Northwest Herald.

The Cary Police Department is continuing its investigation into the case of a Chicago woman who went missing in 1999.

Having received new information regarding the disappearance of Wendy M. Kimura, Cary Police, along with several other law enforcement agencies, will be searching today in locations where Kimura was last seen. 

"The search will involve multiple agencies and will take several hours to complete,"a Cary Police news release said. "Due to the sensitivity of the case, we cannot elaborate on details."

Kimura, of Chicago, was 28 when she went missing on May 21, 1999. The day before, she  boarded a train from Chicago to Fox River Grove, police said. She spent the night with a friend who lived in the 200 block of Route 14, Cary. 

"She was last seen walking along Route 14 in Cary the next day," the release stated. 

Cary Police are seeking  new information and any leads that may assist in resolving the case. 

"We know there are individuals who have information, and we are asking their assistance," the release said. "With the passage of time we are hoping these people come forward."

Kimura was described as an Asian woman with black hair, brown eyes, standing 4-feet, 11-inches tall, and weighing 100 pounds.  She was wearing a St. Edward's school jacket with red trim and the word "April" stitched on the front in red lettering, police said.

She suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, according to the release. 

"Although 14 years have passed since her disappearance, we don't forget," Cary police said. "It is our hope to bring a resolution to the family in this case."
