Union Man Charged With DUI Following Crash in Unincorporated Huntley

The accident happened around 2:20 a.m. on Thursday.

A 39-year-old Union man is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol following a two-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday in unincorporated Huntley, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release. 

Jorge Alvarez is accused of crossing the centerline in his 2005 Ford F250 while driving north on Route 20 near Church Road and colliding head-on with a 2013 Volvo Tractor Trailer that was southbound around 2:20 a.m., according to the news release. 

The driver of the Volvo, George C. Olson, was treated and released at the scene. 

Alvarez was transported by Marengo Fire Rescue to Sherman Hospital in Elgin and later transferred to Lutheran General in Park Ridge.

Alvarez is charged with improper lane usage, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a revoked license, transportation of alcohol by driver and failure to reduce speed.
