Two People Arrested For Selling Prescription Drugs

Kristina Smith, 31, of McHenry, and a 16-year-old Holiday Hills girl were arrested on Aug. 30.



The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office on August 30, arrested a McHenry woman and a 16-year-old Holiday Hills girl for multiple drug charges. 

The Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted an undercover investigation into the illegal sale of prescription medications, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.


Detectives arranged to purchase Xanax pills from the teen at an address on Lake Street in unincorporated McHenry, the release states.

An undercover officer arrived at the address and met with the 16 year old and Kristina Smith, 31, of the 800 block of W. Wood St., McHenry.

Shortly after the transaction occurred, detectives arrived on scene and arrested them both. Smith was turned over to the McHenry County Correctional Facility and the teenage girl was transported to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center. 

Smith was charged with Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (class 3), Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (class 4) and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child, the release states. 

Bond was set at $15,000 for Smith, and she is scheduled to appear in court on
Sept. 18, the news release stated.

The juvenile was charged with Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (class 3) and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (class 4). 

During the course of the investigation, detectives seized 34 Xanax pills. Sheriff Keith Nygren estimates the street value of the narcotics seized to be approximately $170.00.
