Two Arrested Following Undercover Drug Bust in Algonquin

Police said heroin and cocaine were recovered following the investigation.

A Carpentersville man and woman were arrested on Friday in Algonquin following an undercover drug investigation. 

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, Intelligence Led Policing Unit and K-9 unit conducted an undercover narcotics investigation in the area on Friday. Shortly after making an undercover purchase for 1 gram of heroin, police pulled over the two Carpentersville residents at Algonquin Road and Sandbloom Road in Algonquin. 

The passenger in the vehicle, Alicia A. Mugisa, 29, was arrested for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, according to the sheriff's office. The driver, Tyree E. Franklin, 27, of 114 Woodland Court #29 in Carpentersville, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for traffic violations in DeKalb County.

Following the investigation, the sheriff's office recovered approximately 1.8 grams of heroin and .6 grams of cocaine. The drugs were valued at $2,687. Narcotics seizied in the investigation had a street value of about $400, according to the news release. 

Mugisha, of 19 Oxford #5 in Carpentersville, is expected in court on Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. Bond for Franklin was set at $5,000.
