Two Algonquin Men Killed in Single-Car Crash in Cary

Two Algonquin men were killed in a single-car crash in Cary very early Friday morning, according to authorities.

Bradley J. Kass, 25, and Robert Sloan Jr., 22, both died when the vehicle Kass was driving crossed the center line of a curve along West Rawson Ridge Road just north of Ida Drive around 2:30 a.m., according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Kass was pronounced dead at the scene, while Sloan was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, where he was also pronounced dead, according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.

Kass was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while Sloan was wearing a seatbelt. Airbags did not deploy, according to Nygren.

"Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports as alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash," Nygren said.

The McHenry County Coroner's office is investigating Kass' death, while the Lake County Coroner's Office is investigating Sloan's death, according to McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski.

Based on a preliminary investigation, Majewski said it appears that Kass died from multiple blunt force injuries, and a toxicology report is pending.
