Sleepy Hollow Man Charged with Aggravated Arson in Caputo's Bomb Incident

Fabian J. Torres, 24, has been charged with throwing a bomb made out of a bottle filled with flammable liquid in the Algonquin Caputo's on Sunday.

Sunday at 12:17 p.m. the Algonquin police received a call of a fire at Joe Caputo and Son’s Grocery Store, along the 100 block of South Randall Road.

Police said Torres threw the bomb by the deli in the back of the store and fled the store, where he was chased by an adult male shopper who tackled him to the ground. An off-duty Carpentersville police officer assisted in detaining Torres until Algonquin police arrived, police said.

One man was injured during the incident and he was treated and released on the scene, according to police.

The amount of the damage caused to the store is unknown at this time.

Torres will be transported to McHenry County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
