Skeletal Remains Found in McHenry Home Identified

McHenry County Sheriff's Officials have released information regarding the skeletal remains found in a McHenry house on Nov. 6.

The skeletal remains found in an unincorporated McHenry home in November have been identified as Jacqueline R. Schaefer.

Schaefer, 45, had lived at 518 Country Club Road where her remains were found on Nov. 6, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's news release.  

William Ross, 62, who owned the Country Club Road residence, was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with concealment of a homicidal death, according to the news release.

Ross' next court date is Feb. 14, 2014 for a status hearing in Nevada and his bond has been set at $100,000. 

Schaefer's remains were originally discovered on Nov. 6 after a caretaker found the remains inside the home and called police.

The McHenry County Sheriff's office and Coroner's office confirmed the identity of Schaefer Monday after DNA comparisons were conducted by the Illinois State Police Crime Lab. 

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have known Schaefer or has any information regarding this investigation to contact the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 815-334-4750. 

The investigation is ongoing.
