Presentation Provides Information on Local Scams Targeting Seniors

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office will team up with Senior Services to provide information on current scam occurring in McHenry County during a presentation at 10 a.m. on Dec. 6 at the McHenry Township building, 3519 Richmond Road in McHenry, according to a sheriff's office press release.

Since scams that target our communities are always changing, this quarterly educational series will provide information on seasonal scams as well as information on current trends observed in the past three months, according to the news release.

Tips will be given on what to watch for, how to protect yourself and what to do if you become a victim, according to the press release.

The presentation is designed for McHenry County residents. Seniors and caregivers  of senior citizens are encouraged to attend since seniors are often targeted as victims.

"This presentation will provide forest hand information on what is going on in McHenry County," said Undersheriff Andrew Zinke in the news release. "Our goal is to share information and arm our citizens with knowledge in an effort to prevent them from becoming victims."
