Sheriff's Office Conducts Checks on Sex Offenders

18 are registered in Algonquin.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department conducted checks last week on all 72 sex offenders in the county, including 18 living in Algonquin, and found all to be compliant.

The sheriff's department along with the United States Marshal Service conducts checks twice every year, making sure sex offenders were following statuary requirements such as providing correct home addresses and employer and vehicle information, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Department press release.

There are currently 72 sex offenders registered in McHenry County, including 28 in Crystal Lake, 12 in Lake in the Hills, 18 in Algonquin, five in Cary and eight in Huntley, according to the state of Illinois sex offender information website.
