Second Blaze in 18 Months at Algonquin Home

Firefighters responded to a fire at 370 Glenwood Court in Algonquin.

Police responded Tuesday evening to the second fire in the past 18 months at 370 Glenwood Court in Algonquin, according to a Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District press release. 

A neighbor reported the fire at 6:25 p.m. after discovering smoke and flames coming from the front door of the abandoned home. 

Fire crews extinguished the flames from the outside of the structure and, after searching the rest of the house, did not find anymore flames, according to the news release. 

No one was inside the home, according to the news release. The abandoned home has been vacant since a previous fire that caused extensive damage 18 months ago, according to the press release.

Damage is expected to cost about $15,000. The fire remains under investigation.
