Roadside Safety Check Set for St. Patrick's Day Weekend

Illinois State Police plan check at Route 31 and the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

 

If you plan to down some green beer for St. Patrick’s Day, make sure you have a designated driver because Illinois State Police are holding a Roadside Safety Check on the holiday weekend.

The Illinois State Police will be conducting a Roadside Safety from 11 p.m. Friday, March 15 to 4 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at the westbound exit ramp from the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) to Route 31, ISP Captain Joe Perez said.

ISP has zero tolerance for impaired driving in Illinois and officers will be on the lookout for driving under the influence, transportation of open liquor.

Alcohol and drug impairment are factors in nearly 40 percent of all fatal crashes in Illinois, ISP report. The project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
