Popular Area Pizzeria Damaged by Blaze

No one was injured in the fire Thursday afternoon at Village Pizza and Pub in Carpentersville.

A popular pizzeria on Route 25 was damaged by an attic fire Thursday in Carpentersville.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at Village Pizza and Pub on Route 25 just before 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the Northwest Herald.

Some employees at the restaurant believe lightning struck the restaurant before 8 a.m. and could have caused the fire though officials could not confirm that, according to the Daily Herald. No one was injured in the blaze, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the Daily Herald.

The blaze forced traffic on Route 25 to be re-routed for a period on Thursday and some District 300 buses for Dundee-Crown High School, Algonquin Middle School and Algonquin Lake Elementary School were delayed because of the road closures, according to the Elgin Courier-News.

Damage estimates were not available Thursday afternoon, according to the Courier-News.
